A Passion for Affordable, Quality Self-Care

Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family.
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and have lived all over the country. I got to live in Arizona from 2020-2021 and my husband and I loved it and said we would retire here. We have been back in Arizona since 2018 when I opened both of my Hand and Stone spa locations Gilbert and Old Town Scottsdale. My husband spent the majority of his career coaching women's college basketball and he is currently the head women's coach at Arizona Christian University located in Glendale, Arizona. Our daughter is a graphic designer and is married to a police officer and lives in the greater Chicago, IL area.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
I spent my career working in the oil industry and had many different opportunities and managed several different types of businesses during my 36-year career. I have an MBA from Case Western Reserve University - Weatherhead School of Management located in Cleveland, OH. I had the opportunity to manage terminal distribution centers, trucking operations, joint venture pipelines, refinery controller with storehouse operations and IT systems, logistics scheduling, and trading. When I retired, I managed the clean products distribution (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, ethanol) for a major oil company for their entire US operation including 13 refineries, pipeline distribution systems, and barge, ship, and railcar transportation modes to offload refineries daily and supply our marketing business as well as bulk customers.

What is your business, how/why did you start your business?
When I lived in Houston, TX I had a very stressful job and had to undergo 9 months of very painful physical therapy as I wasn't listening to my body. I found massage was very important to me to relieve stress as well as tense muscles from working at a computer several hours a day. It was difficult to find affordable quality care until Hand and Stone started to open locations in the Houston area. I became a member on my first visit and loved the quality of care at the affordable price point. When I retired I wanted to run my own business and felt that I could be passionate about massage and facial self-care going into my retirement years and established franchises with Hand and Stone in Arizona.
