St. Peter Prince of Apostles School
St. Peter Prince of Apostles School is a premier private Catholic school that offers students 18 months through eighth grade a rigorous curriculum, leadership development, extracurricular activities and an exciting athletics program. Located in the historic Alamo Heights community in San Antonio, the school was founded in 1926 by the Sisters of the Incarnate Word. Our school is committed to providing a Christ-centered education focused on Catholic values empowering students to become global leaders. A two-time winner of the National Blue Ribbon Award, we offer a comprehensive academic program and faith formation that instills the TIGER Spirit values of tolerance, integrity, generosity, empathy and responsibility.
St. Peter Catholic School, since 1926, has consistently developed kind, respectful, academically superior students. Offering full-day classes for children 18 months through eighth grade, our continued success has been built on the excellent qualifications of our faculty and staff, our dedicated families, and our school and church community. As a member of the Brainpower Connection program through the University of the Incarnate Word, students receive a $1500 scholarship to attend Incarnate Word High School or St. Anthony Catholic High School. This program facilitates “shared visions and shared facilities that break down walls traditionally separating elementary schools, high schools, and universities.” Our students attend daily chapel and weekly mass, growing in their faith through the experiences they have participating in the liturgy and also by helping each other in the Big Brother Big Sister program. Combined with a rigorous curriculum that fosters the academic excellence needed to be productive, faithful citizens of our community and beyond, our program gives our students the foundation to be successful at any university they choose to attend.
St. Peter’s Catholic School uses a variety of instructional methodologies to help each student learn the best way they can. Programs focus on mastering the basics while simultaneously offering students ample opportunities for hands-on learning and development. Aside from classroom instruction, students learn through field trips, community activities, and interactive presentations from local universities, most especially, The University of the Incarnate Word. We enrich each child’s development by requiring academic excellence and providing opportunities that challenge students and recognize individual achievement.
Our program offers art, music, Spanish, and robotics to our students as part of the curriculum to ensure they have a well-rounded education. St. Peter’s tigers can participate in basketball, volleyball, soccer, golf, cross country, track and field, softball and cheer. By developing an interdependence on one another, rooted in a common love of Christ, our students learn to be respectful and supportive of each other and all whom they encounter. For 96 years, St. Peter Catholic School has been a leader in academic excellence and Christian citizenship, which has produced teachers, astrophysicists, musicians, geophysicists, lawyers, doctors, nurses, engineers, and many, many other vocations that help make our global community a better place to live.
