Joyride Boat Club: Women-Owned, Eco-Chic Boating in Savannah

When Audra DiPadova and Allison Krandall met in Ardsley Park, neither knew that a spontaneous conversation would lead to a thriving business partnership. “I met Audra when we purchased her home about a year and a half ago,” Allison explained. “One afternoon last fall, Audra and I met for coffee at our neighborhood coffee shop, Café Taureau, and she asked if I’d be interested in exploring an electric boat charter business with her. Growing up in Michigan, I was always on the water, and the idea immediately intrigued me.”

For Audra, the idea for Joyride Boat Club had been in the back of her mind since she and her family moved to Savannah from California. “We lived near Newport Beach, where I often rented electric boats with friends,” Audra recalled. “When I realized Savannah didn’t have anything like that, I thought, ‘I’d love to bring this here.’ After a few years of consideration, I decided to go for it.”

Together, Audra and Allison launched Joyride Boat Club, a women-owned, 100% electric, eco-friendly boating experience, designed for both locals and visitors. With Taryn Weston, their lead USCG Certified Captain, at the helm, they offer something Savannah’s waterways had been missing—a fleet of quiet, luxurious 22' European-style electric boats that glide through the water without disturbing the local marine life.

“Our cruises are designed to be relaxing and elegant,” Allison explained. “You can dress for dinner and take Instagram-worthy photos, without worrying about getting wet or wind-blown. It’s a perfect way to take in Savannah’s gorgeous scenery and sunsets while enjoying quality time with your partner, friends or family.”

Each charter includes a knowledgeable captain to guide the way, and guests can opt for curated catering packages sourced from some of Savannah’s best local restaurants and markets.  “We want our guests to have a stress-free experience, so any catering packages ordered will be ready for you at the boat when you arrive,” Audra stated. Whether it’s a romantic sunset cruise, a family celebration, a special occasion, or a pet-friendly outing, Joyride Boat Club ensures a fully customized experience.

The charters include an overhead canopy to provide guests reprieve from the summer sun, and Joyride Boat Club also has a clear all-weather enclosure for the colder months, providing guests with a year-round boating experience. “Dogs are also welcome to join! With a small additional fee we allow one dog per charter of up to 35lbs and we will provide your four-legged friend with a life jacket.” Allison said.  With Savannah being a very dog-friendly city, and as dog owners themselves, Allison and Audra understand that customers may be interested in this pet-friendly option.

Audra, who lives in Ardsley Park with her husband, Justin, their two children, Max and Maesie, and their dogs, Ziggy and Ollie, feels a deep connection to the community. In addition to running Joyride, she’s the founder of MaxLove Project, a nonprofit supporting families facing childhood cancer and rare diseases. Allison, who moved to Ardsley Park with her husband Joel Fischer and their two dogs Pennie and Pip from Nashville after leaving her corporate legal position, loves the new adventure her partnership with Audra has sparked. “Moving here on a whim turned out to be one of the best decisions we ever made,” she said.
