A Super Bowl Salute

The Crisp family hosts Marines for a day of fun, food, and football.

Inside the American Legion Post 291

For 14 years, the Crisp family—Gary, Julie, and Carter Crisp of Crisp Imaging—has hosted a spectacular Super Bowl celebration for hundreds of Marines from Camp Pendleton at American Legion Post 291 in Newport Beach. On a bright February afternoon, 5th Division Marines enjoyed a day filled with wrestling matches, harbor cruises, live music, and classic casino games like blackjack and craps. They were entertained by the USC Band and Cheerleaders, indulged in beer and cigars, and even received haircuts and massages. Generous gifts of memorabilia and cash were handed out, while a feast of barbecue, followed by donuts and ice cream, kept everyone well-fed. The event opened with a prayer and the National Anthem and concluded with the Philadelphia Eagles soundly defeating the Kansas City Chiefs—a fitting end to a day dedicated to honoring and thanking the United States Marines.
