Brittany Green
Building Community Through Business and Philanthropy
RJ: Good morning, Brittany. I’ve admired your work for some time now. What led you to get into business finance and valuation?
Brittany: Good morning, RJ. I am often asked how I got into business finance. Honestly, I never thought I would end up in a math-related career! Math was not my favorite subject in school. After a college course in business calculus, I changed my major to business communications. When I finished college, I couldn’t find a job in marketing. So, I did what a lot of people do… go into real estate!
Being a real estate agent did not appeal to me, so I ended up in real estate appraisal. In 2011, my dad and I started our first business together, conducting high-value, residential real estate appraisals for insurance companies. In 2018, we started Advantage Business Coach which, later became Green Appraisal.
RJ: Tell me more about Brittany Green. What drives your interests and passions?
Brittany: I am a woman who wears many hats. My first hat is the managing partner of Green Appraisal, LLC which is a financial analysis and business valuation firm serving the Clear Lake and surrounding communities. I am a Certified Business Analyst, Certified Financial Data Analyst, and a Certified Social Media Manager. I also am an instructor for the Texas Association of Business Brokers and teach courses on the many benefits of Third-Party Valuation.
But most importantly and to great excitement, I am the President and Chairman of a 501c3 called Clear Lake Ladies Night Out, Inc. This organization was started in February 2020 with two of my closest friends.
I was born at Clear Lake Regional Hospital, or at least that is what it was called in 1987. I have lived within 15-20 minutes of that hospital my whole life. I’m a golfer, an avid reader, and a dog mom of 5!
RJ: What sparked your interest in going into the financial side of business?
Brittany: My dad. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner, Forensic Accountant, Forensic Auditor, and he has worked in finance and auditing for most of his career. When he decided to open the coaching firm, he asked me if I wanted to work with him. Obviously, my immediate answer was yes. He asked me to take a few days to think about the fact that any counsel, reporting, or recommendations we make, could directly affect someone else’s life… not just their business, but their personal lives and the lives of their employees.
RJ: What is the number one question that people ask, when they find out you value businesses?
Brittany: The number one question is, “What can I sell my business for?” The second most popular question is, “How much will this business cost me?”
We help entrepreneurs in both scenarios as well as during personal divorces, partner divorces or buy-outs, exit planning, mergers and acquisitions, and even probate.
Our primary goal is to help our clients obtain all available and necessary information, so they can make the most informed decision possible. For our sellers, we want them to be able to receive all the money they feel they are owed, given all the blood, sweat, and tears they have invested in their business. Sometimes the business isn’t at their “magic number”, so the best course is to continue to grow for a year or two, then list the business for sale.
RJ: Tell me more about the Clear Lake Ladies organization.
Brittany: The primary goal of CLLNO, when first established, was to have one night a month where businesswomen in the Clear Lake area could go out, meet other like-minded ladies, and have a fun night while giving back to their community. Each of our events benefitted a different nonprofit organization in our area. We were initially limited in our reach and ability to give. Now, we have over 1300 members and have expanded our borders to serve on a broader scale. We believe all women can embrace who they are, can define their future, and can change the world.
RJ: What is next for CLLNO?
Brittany: The next steps are to increase our donations and funding, so we can help more nonprofit organizations. That includes applying for grants and seeking sponsorships from our local business partners. We want to empower more businesswomen and provide more donations to our local nonprofits. With this group of strong women, the sky is the literal limit.
RJ: Thank you for taking the time to visit with me, Brittany. I look forward to seeing the great things your organizations will accomplish in the coming years. How can our readers learn more and/or get in touch?
Brittany: The best way is to start is on our websites.
