Bay Oaks resident Nancy O'Dowd is an artist with a passion for creating home and pet watercolor portraits. "They make great gifts for housewarming, moving, and other special remembrances," she says. She's been in business for more than 20 years and she hopes to continue with her portraits. She knows that there are two things people love — their homes and their pets — and it makes her happy to know that there's a painting of hers hanging in their home.

She majored in commercial art in college and continued to take painting classes after graduation. As her family moved across the country, from Massachusetts to South Carolina and finally to Texas, she painted each of the houses they lived in. After painting some of her friends' and family's homes, she received requests from their friends to paint their homes and pets. And that's how the business began!

Nancy and her husband Frank have lived in Bay Oaks for more than 20 years. This is their third home in the neighborhood! They have three sons: Brendan, who lives in Austin; Ryan, who lives with his wife Laura and three kids in McKinney; and Kevin, who lives in Bay Oaks, too.
