Pomodoro's Cucina Italiana Clear Lake
Appreciation and Networking Evening sponsored by Cruise Planners
Greetings Neighbors. Welcome to my latest column on Bay Oaks Beverages and Bites. Some of you may or may not know this already, every few months the magazine and one of its sponsors puts together a Happy Hour for the community to gather at a local establishment to meet fellow neighbors and local business owners. For this month’s column, I decided to write about the event we had in October at Pomodoros!
The Stroll Bay Oaks Appreciation and Networking Night was sponosred by Anne-Lyse Verkilen with Cruise Planners. She invited additional speakers to feature for the evening including representatives from The Travel Corporation, Ama Waterways, Virgin Voyages, and Royal Caribbean. They all had compelling presentations that had me and my wife planning our next vacation! Pomodoros has a space in the back that is perfect for private dining and events such as this.
While the event was going on, the wait staff brought out a seemingly endless amount of appetizers. There were so many delicious looking appetizers that I started eating them without really knowing what they were. I jotted most of them down so I’d be able to write this article. To start with, they brought out an Antipasto Italiano, a Caprese salad, Shrimp Cocktail and a mini charcuterie cup. I love shrimp and Pomodoros Shrimp Cocktail hit the spot. After that, they brought out the Vegetable Bruschetta. Full transparency, I’m not a huge vegetable guy, but the Vegetable Bruschetta was excellent. The main dishes for the evening were Mini Beef Wellington and Involtini Messinesi. The Beef Wellington was a beef patty with cheese in the middle. The Messinesi was some type of crunchy roll that had beef inside it. Sorry if I sound ignorant on some of this. If it’s Italian food and it’s not Chicken Parmesan or Pizza, and both of those are excellent at Pomodoros, then I really have no clue what I’m eating. But the one thing I do know, everything they brought out was fantastic!
As far as the beverages go, Pomodoros wouldn’t be a proper Italian restaurant without a robust
wine menu which of course they have. They also have a full bar with just about any cocktail you can think of. The bar area at Pomodoros is separated from the main dining room and is a great place to hang out before your meal or just to come grab a drink. On this occasion, I had my typical Old Fashioned, my wife had a Martini, and I saw all types of other beverages being carried around the room. One that came highly recommended was the lemon basil martini, I was told it was very refreshing!
All in all, it was a wonderful evening of community at Pomodoros. The Travel Advisors were great hosts and shared some good insight into the cruises they offer. It was a lot of fun getting to meet new neighbors and talk with some of the small business owners in the area. If you have
not been to one of the community Happy Hours, I highly encourage you to go in the future. The
events are typically announced in the Bay Oaks Residents Facebook page as well as the Stroll
Bay Oaks page. If you aren’t on Facebook or not in those groups, you can always just shoot me a message and I’d be happy to let you know when the next one is. I hope to see you at a future
Happy Hour!
