Fourth of July was a BLAST!
The Bay Point Yacht Club gathered on a sweltering July 4th afternoon to celebrate Independence Day. Our hosts for the afternoon went all out for decor- the entire club was decorated in red, white, and blue! There were American flag tablecloths, hats, flags, and star spray centerpieces on each table, banners on the walls, an American flag runner on the food table, and an American flag made of lights hanging behind the band. Members followed suit, dressing in their most patriotic red, white, and blue outfits, including an Uncle Sam and every variation of an American flag outfit imagined! Guests snacked on appetizers, sipped on margaritas and bloody marys, and socialized while everyone gathered. Once the club was full, the afternoon festivities kicked off with members standing for the pledge of allegiance and an eloquent opening grace by John Harris. After that, food was served! Main courses were provided by Neon’s at Bar 72 and included BBQ chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. Our wonderful hosts for the evening, Sara & Charles Haley, Phi Doane & Greg Lissor, Kay & Vince Murphy, and Robin Stutts & Don Hill provided sides and snacks, including baked beans, watermelon, corn on the cob, and potato salad. The Jam Kings Band, sponsored by Sara and Charles Haley, lived up to their name by jamming out to classics such as Brown Eyed Girl and Tequila Sunrise, playing soft rock all afternoon as members ate, drank, socialized, and danced. Members' sweet tooth cravings were satiated with a bucket of “white trash” mix on every table and a beautiful celebratory cake. Overall, it was a fun and patriotic afternoon full of feasting to celebrate Independence Day!
