Hi, my name is Benjamin. I am a rescue dog with a story perfect for Valentine’s Day!

I will begin with my journey amongst other dogs, barking and howling, protesting the unknown. Me, I am just too tired and hungry to care. Suddenly, bright lights awaken me to a shiny enclosure with fresh water and dried dog food. These kind humans take me on short walks, and they attempt to cut hurtful tangles and knots from my matted hair; although, I am happiest when left alone.

This day my name is called over and over as a leash is clamped onto my collar. I resist the gentle commands to exit my enclosure until I look into the eyes of a beautiful human, sitting on the floor with outstretched open hands; her long flowing hair frames a beautiful smiling face. She sits ever so still, beckoning me with a treat. I shyly take it, quickly retreating to my enclosure as she patiently waits. Weakly walking, guided by her sweet smell, I, on impulse, bury my face in her hands; she welcomes my unexpected move with gentle pats and soothing sounds. I fall instantly in love! We are joined by a tall, kind human man who obviously loves her too. The three of us ride off together to my new-found heaven.

PS: We just returned from vacation where I basked in the sugar-white sand of Panama City Beach. I met my doggie-grandma who lives by the bay; she made biscuits for me!
