Say Hi to the Eggenspillers!

Hello Neighbors!
We are thrilled to introduce ourselves, the Eggenspillers, to this wonderful community we have found here in Belterra. I, John, am the husband of Kelse (kel-see) and father of Paisley (13 but going on 20) and Henry (10).
I grew up in a small town in central Ohio called Washington Court House. Growing up in central Ohio, my first love was THE Ohio State Buckeyes (sorry Longhorns fans). Despite my fandom, I choose to go to the University of Dayton to pursue a career in computer science and eventually onto Mercer University to study Finance. After college, I moved back to Columbus to be close to family and start my career. After a 13-year run in the banking industry I decided to do something different and moved into retail finance. Since doing so, I’ve gotten to work for some amazing people at incredible companies including Ascena Brands, Lowe’s and the company that brough us to Texas, YETI, where I currently lead the Corporate Sales finance team.
Outside of the office, I love to travel, attend music and sporting events and, most of all, help my wife raise two incredible humans. But before we get to them, let me introduce you to my wife Kelse, or as we know her, the glue that holds our family together.
Kelse grew up in Indianola, WA, across the Puget Sound from Seattle. Kelse enjoyed being the youngest sibling for 11 years before her younger sister came along. Because of the age gap, Kelse not only settled into the hard reality of being the middle child but learned a lot along the way about how to take care of her baby sister and children in general. Kelse’s love for babies has definitely shaped her career path, going from babysitting, to being a live-in nanny to currently being a pre-school teacher. In fact, her love for children is the only reason we ever met.
While Kelse was living in Palm Desert, CA, she received a call from the family of two boys she had previously cared for. Their company was being acquired, and they were being moved to Columbus, Ohio and asked her to move with them as a live-in nanny. After a few moments of hesitation, she told them she would go for the summer. Little did she know, four days after getting to Ohio, she would meet me, fall head over heels (my story might be different than hers), and spend the next ten years there building our family. I’ve never known a more dedicated and passionate person about their family. When I tell you she’s all-in, I mean she’s 11pm run to the store to get something for a school project, baking homemade goodies for me to take to work, school function chaperoning, football team moming all-in! And she does it all with a smile on her face. Kelse has a kind heart, a welcoming soul and I’m pretty sure she’s never met a stranger in her entire life. Just don’t sit in front of her at one of Henry’s football games unless you have really good ear plugs because all of that passion and excitement she carries undoubtedly comes out when she’s cheering on her children.
Our oldest child is Paisley, who is in 7th grade at Sycamore Springs, where she’s recently joined the student council. She has an amazing personality and her wit and humor rival that of someone twice her age. Paisley loves the arts and can often be found reading, writing, crafting, painting, listening to music, trying out a new recipe or watching her favorite TV show, Friends. While she’s more introverted like her father, once she gets to know you, you’ve got a loyal friend for life. She hasn’t joined any of the school sports since moving to Texas, but has previously played softball, tennis, soccer, basketball and volleyball. She’s currently interested in joining a girl’s rugby team and is excited to start serving with the National Charity league in the spring. Paisley also recently got her babysitting certification, so if anyone needs a sitter, she would love to help you out.
Henry is our youngest child who is in 4th grade at Rooster Springs Elementary. Henry is as outgoing as they come and loves to play any sport he can. While it feels like he grew up with a basketball in his hands and a soccer ball on his feet, his favorite sport is football. 2024 was his third year playing Pop Warner football and his first year playing in Texas. He’s currently playing basketball in the DSYSA Academy league, but very much looking forward to getting back on the football field this spring to play flag football. Henry is also an avid swimmer and can’t wait to compete for the Marlin’s this year. Despite all of his athletic success, what I’m most proud of is how genuine and kind he is. He’s always looking out for his friends, teammates and classmates and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Since moving to Texas and Belterra in June of 2024, we’ve found everyone to be incredibly friendly and so many have gone out their way to make us feel welcome. We’ve already met many great people within our neighborhood, especially our Mesa Verde neighbors, but are eager to meet the rest of the community and make many more lasting friendships. We’d love for you to say hi if you see us around and thank you for welcoming us into this wonderful community.
We are excited to be here and look forward to the many adventures and memories we will share.
