Scholarship Winner Highlights North Shore Republican Women Meeting
Judge Echo Hutson, Leigh Billingsley, Sherry Fox
NSRW members and guests at our May meeting learned about the Convention of States that Mark Meckler, president of Convention of States Foundation and Convention of States Action, and his group have been working on establishing. It was very interesting, and Mark received a standing ovation for his speech. Deborah Graham, 3rd Vice President and scholarship chairman, presented her committee’s choice for a $2,000 scholarship. Jace Yarborough, senior at Willis High School, was presented a “check” by Deborah and committee members Tammy Coleman and Diane Hivnor. State Representative Will Metcalf told Jace and his mother, Abby Yarborough, that an American flag was flying over the state Capitol at that time and would be presented to him at a later date. On April 18th, Caring for America chairman Sherry Fox and President Leigh Billingsley presented a painting by Annette Young to County Court at Law 4 Judge Echo Hutson for her mental health treatment court, which has a program for offenders. Sherry and Leigh also gave her metal plaques to give to graduates of the program.
