One of the summer Caring for America projects for North Shore Republican Women was donating, sorting, and bagging new clothing and undergarments for women who leave their homes because of abuse and must leave everything behind. We collected many items, as well as toiletries, at our June 5th meeting. Later, a group met to sort the clothes into sizes. Before the meeting, some of our talented women who sew made brightly colored cloth drawstring bags to hold the donations. The back of one of the members’ vehicles was filled with the bags, which were taken to the Montgomery County Women’s Shelter donation location. We hope the women, who bravely leave their former lives, will take a small amount of comfort from our contributions.
