Bermuda Run residents have yet another reason to celebrate: One of their own, Carrie McGuire, has been inducted into the Davie High Athletic Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition solidifies her legacy as one of the school’s most outstanding athletes.
Carrie, a former basketball star, played a pivotal role in the success of Davie High’s program during her time on the court. In her senior season, she averaged an impressive 13 points per game, including a standout 24-point performance in a crucial matchup. Only 11 girls in Davie High history have hit the thousand point mark and seven of them were there for four years.
Her sharp shooting, leadership, and tenacity made her a standout player, and those qualities have now earned her a permanent place in school history. Coaches and teammates recall her as a clutch performer, always stepping up when the team needed her most. Whether it was sinking crucial shots in the final moments or motivating her teammates, Carrie’s influence was undeniable.
“She had a way of making the impossible seem effortless,” one former teammate shared. “When the game was on the line, we always wanted the ball in her hands.”
Her defensive game was equally strong, averaging 7 rebounds and 3 steals per game, proving she was more than just a scorer. Opponents struggled to keep up with her agility and quick decision-making on the court.
Beyond her athletic prowess, Carrie’s impact extended beyond the game. She exemplified sportsmanship, discipline, and determination—qualities that have continued to define her success beyond high school. She later returned to support the community by coaching and mentoring young athletes, sharing her knowledge and passion for the game with the next generation.
Carrie joins an elite group of athletes in the Hall of Fame, standing alongside other Davie High legends who have left a lasting mark on the school’s sports history. Her induction serves as an inspiration to young athletes in the community, proving that hard work, passion, and perseverance can lead to great achievements.
“I never played for awards or recognition,” Carrie reflected on her induction. “I just loved the game, my teammates, and the competition. This honor means the world to me because it brings back all those amazing memories.”
With this well-deserved honor, Carrie McGuire’s name will forever be remembered in Davie High sports history. Her story is a testament to the power of dedication and the lasting impact of high school athletics on shaping future leaders.
Congratulations, Carrie!
