Introducing the Davie Women’s Auxiliary

Hi Everyone, Please meet the Davie County Women’s Auxiliary!

In February of 2024, Sue Whittaker and Linda Ernst decided that they would like to form a Women’s group to meet other Davie County women and to help make our community a better place to live by working together. So on a cold rainy day in March, there was a meeting at Linda’s house to determine if there was enough interest. There were over 25 ladies who showed up, so Sue and Linda decided there was enough interest and they began work to determine when we would meet and who we could help.

As more women discovered what was going on, more women wanted to attend our meetings. We had a problem of trying to find a good place to meet. That problem was solved by Jessie Elmore at the beautiful new ReStore at Bermuda Quay Shopping Center. There was more than enough room to meet there and since it is a store filled with furniture it was more than comfortable and more than enough room for our growing group. Jessie also provided us with our first program as she told us what Habitat For Humanity in Davie County and the ReStore was accomplishing.

One thing of particular interest is called “Critical Repairs”, where volunteers of Habitat go in and repair small jobs in people’s homes which helps them to remain in their homes. This was making our community better and we wanted to partner with Jesse to help make more of that happen.

Some of the projects planned for this year for the Davie Women’s Auxiliary are to assist the American Red Cross with blood drives held at the ReStore, Partner with Ronald McDonald House to fill the community with Luminaries, help the Town of Bermuda Run with the 25th Year Celebration, assist with Christmas in Bermuda Run, sell beautiful Poinsettias on December 2nd at the ReStore, and have a fundraiser dinner at Bermuda Village to benefit Habitat For Humanity Davie County’s Critical Repairs.

If you are a woman in Davie County and you want to be a part of something larger than yourself please come and join us. You can contact Sue Whittaker at sueakag@gmail.com or Linda Ernst at lernst2@triad.rr.com
