The Heartwarming Tradition: Light Up the Night at Davie Medical Center

Since its inception, the Light Up the Night event at Davie Medical Center (DMC) has become a beloved tradition, uniting the community to support those in need. This annual event, which features a festive tree lighting ceremony, has not only spread holiday cheer but also raised crucial funds for local charities, showcasing the true spirit of giving in Davie County.

December 1, 2020 – A Virtual Celebration for a Good Cause
The first Light Up the Night event in 2020 was held virtually, broadcast live on Facebook due to the pandemic. Despite the challenges of the year, the community came together to celebrate the season and support local families. Proceeds from the event benefited Family Promise of Davie County and the DMC Employee Assistance Fund, providing vital resources for those facing financial hardships. The online event made it possible for people to participate from the comfort of their homes, while still contributing to the well-being of their neighbors.

December 3, 2021 – Virtual Again, But Full of Heart
In 2021, the event continued in a virtual format as the world was still navigating the pandemic. Despite the challenges, the community's generosity shone through. This year’s proceeds went to The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center, which supports children in distress, and the DMC Employee Assistance Fund, which helped DMC staff and their families through tough times. The event was once again streamed online, allowing people to join from far and wide in the spirit of giving.

December 6, 2022 – Spreading Warmth in the Winter Season
In 2022, the Light Up the Night event was held with the same purpose: to support local causes while spreading holiday joy. The event’s proceeds benefited A Storehouse for Jesus, an organization dedicated to helping families in need, and the DMC Employee Assistance Fund, which continues to support DMC staff. The event was streamed online, allowing the community to witness the lighting of the tree and the warmth it brought to the hearts of all.

December 1, 2023 – A Beautiful Indoor Celebration
Last year’s event on December 1, 2023, brought a shift in format due to inclement weather. The Tree Lighting Ceremony, part of the Light Up the Night fundraiser, was moved indoors, but the festive atmosphere remained. The event’s proceeds benefited the Davie Medical Center Patient Assistance Fund and A Storehouse for Jesus Medical Ministry. While no video was recorded, the community’s support was felt just as strongly, as individuals and families came together to help those who needed it most.

With each passing year, the Light Up the Night event has not only brightened the season but has also illuminated the importance of coming together as a community to support each other, no matter the challenges. As the tradition grows, so too does the impact on the lives of those who benefit from the generosity of Davie County residents. We look forward to another year of light, love, and giving.
