Bermuda Run Garden Club - November Gathering

Diana Guthrie shows she won so many awards they spilled over but there's no hiding evidence of her green thumbs!

The Bermuda Run Garden Club met at the Clubhouse on Wednesday, November 5.  Members were greeted by a lovely Thanksgiving-themed centerpiece furnished by hostesses Diana Kaylor and Luanne Taylor.  We welcomed our newest member Dr. Adrienne Hill.
Marie Labarowski thanked everyone who helped with the shredding event on October 19.  She shared that the turnout was the lowest in the 10 years that we have been having it, but nevertheless, several hundred dollars in profit will go for the continuing support of the Davie Community Foundation.  Our next event will be in April, so mark your calendars!

Another agency within the Foundation that we continue to support is Pearls of Wisdom, a group that supports women and children facing homelessness.  The Garden Club is thankful to be able to give $500 to this worthwhile group.  In a similar vein, Karen Cohn shared how our donations to Storehouse for Jesus make a profound difference in the lives of our fellow Davie County citizens.

In addition to our shredding events and our geranium sales, we earned money by winning prizes at the Carolina Classis Fair, and we won big!  President Donna Lamonds proudly handed out 124 ribbons and certificates to the following members: Cindy O’Hagan, Alice Bostrom, Karen Cohn, PJ Guerra, Bonnie Rockaway, Diane Guthrie, Karen Coley, Amy Bridges, Shelby Nichols, and Beth Wright.  Donna herself earned 25 ribbons and one of our newer members, Diane Guthrie won 20 and a certificate of merit for her floral design.  A big thank you to chairs Shelby Nichols, Ann Cornwell and Bonnie Rockaway for leading this effort.

On November 7 another group met the Clubhouse to create centerpieces to adorn the tables that evening for the town of Bermuda Run’s 25th anniversary celebration.  What a great event for Donna Lamonds, Diane Guthrie, Diana Kaylor, Janet Delong and Gaye Orsini to show that not only do we love to grow flowers, we love to style and share them!

Look for Garden Club members disguised as elves on December 8 at Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run!
