Asheville resident Brad Currin opened the Western North Carolina branch of Floor Coverings International (WNC FCI) to fill a gap in the marketplace where residents are being underserved. With a background serving in the Army’s 82nd Airborne as well as management positions in the hospitality and healthcare fields, Brad understands the importance of exceptional customer service. Active in the community with Scouting America and an Eagle Scout, Brad says, “We go back to the Scout motto of trustworthy and helpful. From the initial complimentary in-home consultation through the final installation, clients have the same dedicated team. His mobile showroom provides a one-stop shop experience at your home with more than 3,000 samples of flooring options including carpet, vinyl, hardwood, laminate and tile.

“We work with clients to find a product aligned with what they want and their budget. We help clients make selections by asking questions including, ‘Do you have dogs? Do liquids get spilled on your floors a lot?’ ‘What is the budget you would like to work within?’ We assess the features and benefits that are important to each client before we make a recommendation,” he says.

Brad’s integrated approach fosters clear communication, consistency and accountability throughout the entire project. His team quickly curates samples that clients love. At the initial in-home appointment, the WNC FCI team will listen to the clients’ needs, measure the project space, showcase flooring samples, and provide a quote during the appointment.

Brad is married to Yuka, an attorney. Together they have a rescue pup, a German Shepard, Nina Simone, named after the famed jazz singer. Brad is a diehard UNC Tarheel fan but he also roots for his alma mater, the Winthrop Eagles. Both foodies, they also love the beauty of the Asheville area.

When asked how his time in the Army shaped him, Brad says he loves the camaraderie. “It doesn’t matter what branch of the military you are in, when you see another vet, you could have a conversation like you just met yesterday,” he says. “You can always count on a veteran to follow through.”
