Sunshine Chevrolet is a family business with deep roots in the community, supporting AB Tech and the Boy Scouts of America and giving young people leadership opportunities by promoting from within to management roles. Sunshine is owned by the Elliott Family. Kay and Don Elliott are Biltmore Park residents. Their daughter Kristy left her 20-year career in nonprofit marketing and fundraising in 2013 to become the dealer for Sunshine Chevrolet.

An engineer major at the University of Texas, Don Elliott soon realized that engineering wasn’t for him. An Eagle Scout, he was highly active volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America in Dallas, Texas, as an assistant troop leader, when another Scout dad told him he should get into sales and marketing and offered to get him an interview in the Chevrolet Motor Division. “And the rest, so they say, is history,” Kristy says. “Today Don Elliott would tell you that he never would have had a career in the car business without the Boy Scouts.” Kristy now serves on the executive board of the local Daniel Boone Council of Boy Scouts of America. Sunshine Chevrolet is very proud to be an annual supporter of the Scouts.

“You could say I was born into the auto industry,” Kristy says. “My dad was a General Motors executive until I was 10, and bought his first Chevrolet dealership outside of Houston.” He bought Sunshine Chevrolet when it was named Chevy South, back in 2008. Sunshine Chevy moved to its current location at 100 Thunderland Circle, just off of Long Shoals Road, in 2013.

“We named our dealership Sunshine Chevrolet for a reason,” Kristy says. “We bring a brighter and less stressful feeling to customers when purchasing and servicing their vehicles.” The Elliotts create a warm and welcoming environment with spacious waiting areas with free Starbucks coffee and water bottles. “We are one of the most convenient dealerships for Biltmore Park residents to visit for vehicle maintenance and service,” Kristy says.

Sunshine Chevrolet sells Chevrolet cars, trucks, SUVs and EVs as well as used vehicles of all makes and models. Sunshine Chevrolet also has a top-rated service and parts department, with highly trained, experienced technicians who work on all makes and models of vehicles. “We were introduced to the AB Tech automotive tech department in 2015 and were so impressed with the quality of the program that we hired several graduates and started an annual scholarship program,” Kristy says.

Even furry friends are welcome at Sunshine Chevrolet. “Many days you can find my golden retriever, Chevy, in my office at the dealership,” Kristy says. “She loves to find opportunities to break out and greet customers and staff."
