Chef Katie Fiore Opens a Second Business
Asheville Culinary Concierge offers catering and chef services for vacationers.
Biltmore Park resident and chef Katie Fiore loves cooking more than anything else. She studied at the New England Culinary Institute of Vermont and built up her portfolio as the chef at many farmers’ markets, grocery stores, cafés and restaurants. Today, she’s chef and entrepreneur, owning two local businesses.
Fioreously Delicious Culinary Services provides weekly meal delivery service; catering for events, dinner parties and retreats; and personal-chef services for couples and families. Many Biltmore Park families enjoy her meals. Asheville Culinary Concierge provides food to visitors to the area in the form of groceries, restaurant reservations, picnics, in-home chef placement, prepared food for vacations, holidays and celebrations.
“I started Fioreously Delicious Culinary Services five years ago because I saw a need for healthy food options for busy families as well as events that could accommodate dietary restrictions,” Katie says. “What sets Fioreously Delicious apart is that we are quite experienced in dietary restrictions. If you have an event that needs to be gluten or dairy free, your guests will not realize the difference.”
Katie lives on Columbine Road with her husband, Kirk (also a chef!), kids Lidia and Will (now off to college!), and family dog Pearl. “My first job in Asheville was cooking at the Asheville Racquet Club South,” Katie says. “I worked as the chef at the Red Radish Catering Company in Black Mountain for a number of years, and also worked at Rhubarb, The Biltmore Estate, Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock, and Foothills Meats.”
Katie posts the weekly menu every Monday on her website, and clients let her know by the end of the day on Thursday which meals they’d like. She delivers those meals on Sundays. The dinners come in two sizes: Family (feeds up to 5) and Couple. She has customized meal plans for clients who eat vegetarian, vegan, paleo and Whole30.
“Our food is simple and light, yet nourishing and delicious,” Katie says. “We like to describe it as ‘healthy comfort food.’ We take comfort food from around the world and make it healthy and approachable for everyone. We believe that celebratory food doesn’t have to be heavy. As long as it tastes delicious, it will be nourishing and satisfying.”
“Organizing and cooking for a group is a lot of work, especially when you’re not at home,” Katie says. “We hope to help people relax and enjoy their vacation and let us take care of the meal planning.”
Katie is a member of the Rotary Club of Asheville South and the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, and she volunteers with Random Acts of Flowers, a new local nonprofit. Random Acts of Flowers takes used and old flowers from grocery stores and weddings and repurposes them for delivery to nursing homes and people who need a boost.
