Au Pair in America Now Serves Asheville

Combining childcare with a cultural exchange experience

Au Pair in America provides flexible, affordable live-in childcare with a cultural flair to families in the greater Asheville area. The nation’s first au pair program, Au Pair in America has expanded to cover Western North Carolina, creating a cultural exchange experience for au pairs and host families.

Dianna Ryel-Lindsey, community counselor and Asheville’s representative for Au Pair in America, puts her passion for bringing the world together to good use. While she’s traveled and lived all over the world, the pull of the Appalachian Mountains keeps bringing her back, and Dianna is thrilled to bring international childcare to Western North Carolina!

Asheville families love hosting au pairs! Dianna says, “Au Pair in America is unique because it provides childcare that feels like family. You can share the world with your children without having to leave home,” she says. “If you have a spare bedroom and a love of cultural exchange, this could be the perfect fit for you and your family.”

Au Pair in America sets a high standard for management of the program. Since 1986, Au Pair in America has helped more than 100,000 host families across the United States and was recently named the Best Overall Au Pair Agency by Verywell Family — a trusted source for family and parenting information — for the third year in a row!

"Screening is an important key to a successful placement and exchange experience," Dianna says. "Au Pair in America uses a multitiered screening process to ascertain an applicant’s appropriateness for the program including a comprehensive application process, verification of childcare experience, a background investigation and criminal record check."

Every host family is assigned a local professional community counselor to check in monthly and provide ongoing support for both the family and their au pair. Each au pair will typically live with their host family for one year but have the option to extend their stay for up to an additional 12 months.

Dianna loves sharing the Au Pair in America program with local families. She participates in many community events and activities, from farmers’ markets to 5Ks. Dianna is a mom and a lover of international culture. “My mission and vision is to provide the highest-quality educational and cultural exchange programs to enrich the lives of young people.”

She encourages families to compare Au Pair in America with other forms of childcare. “The Au Pair in America program can really help you save and provide so many other benefits to both the au pair and the host family,” Dianna says. “We are thrilled to be serving families right here in Western North Carolina.”
