Founded in 1974, the Summit Club is Flower Mound’s oldest service organization. Its members—community leaders, business owners, and hard-working men—focus on giving back to the area through donations, support for nonprofits, and active involvement in local events. The Club’s mission is rooted in “Community Leadership through Community Service,” striving to show the next generation that giving back is key to enhancing everyone's quality of life. They believe in putting aside differences and coming together to strengthen the Flower Mound community.
For over 50 years, the Summit Club has proudly hosted Flower Mound's oldest community event, the Easter Sunrise Service on The Flower Mound. In partnership with the Women of Flower Mound, this tradition continues to draw over 1,000 attendees annually. If you’ve driven by The Flower Mound during Easter, you’ve probably seen the crosses that the Summit Club members set up and take down each year. Since the early 1980s, they’ve also helped organize the annual Christmas parade, leading the way and collecting canned goods for the Christian Community Action (CCA). The Club further honors the community’s spirit with the Memorial Day flag ceremony, where local Scouts and high school trumpeters play “Taps”—a moving tribute to our nation's military.
In addition to these time-honored events, the Summit Club adapts to the needs of the community. Before 2020, they hosted their annual "Western Saloon & Casino Night" fundraiser. More recently, they’ve launched the state-sanctioned BBQ cookoff—“Flower Mound Smoke & Whiskey Fest”—which has quickly become the town's premier fall event. Returning to the River Walk area this year, the festival will offer whiskey tastings from over 10 Texas distilleries. Proceeds from the Smoke Fest support the Club’s various community activities, including academic excellence awards for over 70 fifth and eighth graders, scholarships at NCTC and Midwestern State University, Scouts BSA sponsorships, and support for local robotics teams. They also lend a hand to nonprofits such as the Mound Foundation, Keep Flower Mound Beautiful, and Winning the Fight.
Notable events supported by the Summit Club include:
- Independence Day Children’s Parade: Cooking over 2,500 hot dogs annually.
- Special Olympics: Providing food at the annual spring swim event.
- LISD Back to School Fair: Serving more than 4,000 hot dogs to students and families.
- Veteran’s Day at Flower Mound High School: Grilling hot dogs in honor of veterans.
- Breakfast with Santa: Making pancakes at this beloved community event.
The Summit Club meets on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm at Flurry's Market + Provisions. They invite all community-minded men to join them and continue this legacy of service.
