Aubrey Rae Tipton
Aubrey Tipton is a senior at Marcus High School with a passion for soccer.
She began playing when she was only three years old on a GLASA team and fell in love. She played many different positions but when she was in the 2nd grade, she found the position meant for her: the goalkeeper. Even after years under her belt and hundreds of games played, she says nothing beats “the adrenaline rush of when I block an awesome shot.” In her career, she has traveled to many different places. Some that stood out to her have been “Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Florida, Austin, Houston, Virginia, and Arkansas.”
Aubrey has made many fond memories on both the FC Dallas and Marcus High School soccer teams but one memory stands out among the rest. She had just won state alongside her team at Marcus when just a few weeks later, she won nationals with her club team. These major back-to-back successes boosted her love for the sport and encouraged her to keep growing.
A mentor of hers who has stood out is her coach Kevin Smith. He was an
incredible coach who pushed his athletes to be the best they could be, never settling for ordinary. She thanks him for all his hard work and dedication to the sport they both love.
One of the many lessons she has learned along the way is the importance of faith even in hard situations. When a game isn’t going the way you want it to, it’s easy to give up and lose hope. She has realized how valuable it is to do the opposite. When you keep faith in yourself and your team, she says, it can turn even the worst game around. She also encourages you to have endurance and put in the work even when you don’t want to because, in the long run, it will pay off.
Aubrey has committed to UMHB where she is excited to continue her athletic journey. We wish her the best of luck in this next stage of her life!
