Cash(ing) In on Adventure
We are the Di Maio family and have lived in Cheval for three years; we absolutely love it here! The sense of community and the convenience of nearby amenities, especially the equestrian barns, make it an ideal place for us & our retired racehorse, Cash.

One of the highlights of our life here is our six-year-old Off-the-Track Thoroughbred gelding, Cash, who joined our family in July. Olivia, our daughter, has been riding since she was five, and we finally decided to take the plunge into horse ownership. Cash, a former racehorse, got his name because he cost a pretty penny, a nod to his racing background.
Cash is truly a special horse. His kind eye immediately reveals his gentle soul to everyone who meets him. He has a playful side, too—he loves to play with his tongue and will rub it against your hand until he’s almost suckling, which is endearing and quite reminiscent of a toddler's behavior.
As for his favorite treats, Cash can’t resist peppermints and homemade treats made with oatmeal, apple, and molasses. One of our fondest memories with him is finding him "grass drunk" at our current barn, lying on his side and snoring after a long day of grazing.
Cash enjoys the company of other horses and loves going on trail rides. Currently, he's working on consistent jumping so Olivia can continue competing—a new adventure they are both excited about.
