Wade
The last three times Wade Greenhalgh rode his bike to Mountain Brook Creamery, he ordered a different flavor. He doesn’t have a favorite, but there is one flavor he knows he will never get, Superman. He won’t be fooled by the gimmick. “It’s just vanilla with dye in it,” says Wade, a sixth grader at Crestline Elementary. “And it’s messy. When you get done eating it, your whole face is purple.”
Far from Mountain Brook, Wade had a big adventure this summer when he got lost in the Eiffel Tower. “It was like playing hide and seek; only I was trying to get found.” When he couldn’t find his parents, Wade started to make his way up to the restaurant. “I remembered someone at our hotel said most workers speak English at fancy restaurants in France.”
The street smarts that got him found will no doubt take him far in life. The 12-year-old is keeping his options open for his future. Wade plans to take over one of the two family businesses, either with his dad at Greenhalgh Insurance or with his uncle at Cooper Construction. But perhaps it’s his charm that will ultimately take him the furthest. “Do you need insurance? Hang on, I’ll get you one of my referral cards.”
