Please share with us some background on you, your business, and how you decided to open your business on Daniel Island.
I moved to the Charleston area in 2009 to take a position at MUSC in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where I worked as a registered nurse until deciding to pursue my Doctorate degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I completed my Master of Science in Nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degrees from MUSC in 2015. I stayed on staff as a DNP in varying pediatric specialties including sleep medicine, pulmonology, asthma & allergy.
The changes of healthcare in 2020 took me down a path of private practice in pediatric primary care. I decided that mainstream practice did not allow me the time or flexibility with families I desired for education and treatment. The driving force in starting Island Pediatrics, a mobile housecall-style practice, is to bring me back to my community, treating children and teaching families in the comfort of their own homes
What is unique about your business or how do you differentiate yourself from others in your line of work?
Island Pediatrics is a specialized practice just for children and is here to provide service in the child’s most comfortable environment- their home! No more leaving the island with a sick child or sitting in a waiting room with others. Exams, testing and prescriptions can all be provided as needed.
How do you hope to serve the community of Daniel Island and what is the best way for folks to connect with you or schedule an appointment?
My husband and I have called Daniel Island our home since 2012 and built our lives here with two amazing children ourselves! Charley- 2nd grade, and Greta Lynn- Kindergarten, have knitted us even closer to this community. I can't wait to provide a service to the people I live my everyday life with!
