My name is Jian Xu, and I reside in the charming Davenport Ranch alongside my beloved wife, Yaguo Wang, our delightful daughter, Eilim Xu, our energetic son, Isaac, and our faithful companion, Rex, who happens to be our family dog. Our story began back in 2004 when my wife and I crossed paths in China during our college years. Subsequently, in 2005, my wife embarked on her journey to pursue a Ph.D. at Purdue University in Indiana, and I eagerly joined her as soon as I could.

 

As an electrical engineer involved in the renewable energy sector, I find great fulfillment in my profession. Meanwhile, my wife serves as a professor in the Mechanical Engineering department at the esteemed University of Texas at Austin. In 2012, we made the life-changing decision to relocate to Austin, and it didn't take long for us to fall in love with this vibrant city. We knew right away that Austin was meant to be our forever home. Both of our children were born here, with our daughter attending Bridge Point Elementary and eagerly preparing for her first-grade adventure this coming fall. As for our son, he attends the UT Daycare.

 

In our neighborhood, I have become somewhat of a familiar face due to my frequent posts of mesmerizing sunset photos on the Nextdoor platform. Photography and painting hold a special place in my heart, allowing me to express my creative side. On the other hand, my wife finds solace in gardening and the joy of cooking. As for our children, Eilim has a deep passion for swimming, while Isaac's enthusiasm revolves around anything related to dinosaurs.

 

We cherish the opportunity to travel as a family, as it grants us the chance to explore new horizons and create lasting memories. Among the places we've visited together, Hawaii stands out as the most unforgettable. Its stunning beaches, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, and delectable Japanese cuisine left an indelible mark on our hearts. Undoubtedly, we look forward to revisiting Hawaii as a family in the near future.

 

Living in our neighborhood brings us immense joy. Our backyard boasts a captivating view, and the recent addition of a swimming pool has only added to our delight. Moreover, the convenient location ensures easy access to all the places we need to be. We feel incredibly grateful for the wonderful individuals who call this neighborhood home, as their friendliness and respectfulness have made our experience all the more enjoyable.

 

One of my personal endeavors is sharing captivating sunset photos with our nearby residents, aiming to offer a momentary escape from the daily routines that can often consume our lives. Sometimes, amidst the busyness, we forget to appreciate the simple beauty of sunsets. We find ourselves preoccupied with countless worries, leaving little time to bask in the splendor of nature. Through my posts, I aspire to bring smiles to the faces of those who come across them, reminding them of the serenity and magnificence that surrounds us.
