The Bolhuis family has called Colorado Springs home since September 2020, having relocated from Los Angeles, California. "Yes, we're one of the transplants!" Nicole jokes. Bryan's job at In-N-Out Burger provided the opportunity for the move. He presented the idea to Nicole, suggesting they explore the state and start their family there. Nicole was hesitant about the idea, being a native of L.A. Their visit to Old Colorado City initially left Nicole in culture shock, feeling apprehensive about the move. However, about six months later, Bryan revisited the idea, proposing the idea of building a new home in Flying Horse and joining the Country Club. "Now you're speaking my love language!" Nicole responded enthusiastically. After welcoming their first child, they began their house search, eventually finding their dream home in the desirable Flying Horse neighborhood.

"We live in Palmaro and couldn't be more blessed to have the most amazing neighbors. Our community is incredibly tight-knit, and we've made so many lovely friendships that feel like family. Our experience with neighbors in California was not quite the same. Joining the Flying Horse Social Club immediately welcomed us into the community. It's such a fun place to bring our children and connect with other families, especially during the summer months by the pool."

Nicole and Bryan met in 2011 at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, an event that drew over a quarter million attendees. "It was love at first sight and music is what brought us closer," Nicole shares. Nicole was in college when they met and later graduated from Cal State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandising. She then spent over 14 years working as a Luxury Wardrobe Stylist in California. Bryan has been employed at In-N-Out Burger for over 25 years, and now works as the Warehouse Manager here in Colorado Springs. After their relocation to Colorado, Nicole made a slight career shift and is now a Design Specialist at Woodley's Fine Furniture, where she looks forward to assisting you with your interior design needs.

The Bolhuis family includes two young children: six-year-old Jacob and four-year-old Alyssa. Nicole's mother, Margarita, also lives with them and provides invaluable help since Nicole and Bryan work full-time. The children attend Discovery Canyon Elementary and love their school. They also participate in sports at the YMCA, including swimming, ballet, and T-ball. For fun, the family enjoys visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. They recently welcomed their first pet, Orla, a Ball Python. "She's a perfect pet for the littles, since Ball Pythons are known for their docile nature and low maintenance traits," Nicole says.

The family visits relatives and friends in California several times a year and enjoy taking one major trip annually. Recently, they have traveled to Santorini, Greece, and Cancun, Mexico. As avid Dodgers fans, they support their team at Coors Field each year when they take on the Rockies. When it comes to downtime at home, the couple is eagerly anticipating the new season of House of Dragons, having previously hosted Jacob's Game of Thrones-themed baby shower. Their favorite local dining spots include Vaqueros, Taco Express, Noodles, and The Steakhouse at Flying Horse.

"We plan on staying in Flying Horse permanently, it's such a beautiful community. It's growing quickly and we look forward to attending a concert at the new Sunset Amphitheater. Flying Horse is an awesome place to raise a family and even retire, as well."
