Jo Chapman

Passionate about Pilates!

“You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions.” – Joseph Pilates

To Ford’s Colony resident Jo Chapman, the words of Joseph Pilates are near and dear to her heart. Since 2015, she has been a Pilates teacher and has taught in studios in Boston, New York, Arizona, and now here at The Pilates Center. She also teaches virtually and offers in-home Pilates classes.

With her experience, she has helped countless individuals with injuries as well as athletes. “I also have a sports focus on improving golfers’ games,” says Jo. She knows the difference a strong core can make in everyday life, making movement easier.

“I’m also a personal event chef,” shares Jo. It’s the best of both worlds for her with fitness and food. Pleasing people’s palates through delicious dishes is what she does best.

Jo’s Background

“I am originally from Syracuse, NY but grew up in Boston,” says Jo. “Having lived all over the country, I decided to buy a home in Williamsburg.”

Her connection with Williamsburg goes back decades. “I have been coming to Williamsburg since the ‘80s and love how close it is to both the ocean and the mountains. The long summers and mild winters make it an ideal climate for me,” she comments.

Jo moved to Ford’s Colony on July 5, 2022. She shares, “The house itself is what grabbed me, but I love the events, pools, tennis courts, and community living here.”

Must Love Dogs

Jo resides on S Stocker Court with her mother, Jennifer Chapman, who is a seasonal resident.

“I moved to Ford’s Colony on July 5, 2022,” says Jo. Since then, she has put down roots in the community. What’s her favorite part of living in Ford’s Colony? “The pool,” she says with a smile. It’s an ideal way to relax for fun in the sun.

Jo’s dog, Tallulah Bankhead Chapman, makes her house a home. This 3-year-old chihuahua loves everyone she meets almost as much as she loves her blanket forts! With her constant companionship and unconditional love, she’s a delight. She’s eager to meet more pet parents and furry friends here in Ford’s Colony.

Active Interests

When she’s not teaching Pilates or working as a personal chef, Jo embraces an active lifestyle.

“I like to stay pretty active and enjoy going to the gym, riding my bike, kiteboarding, kayaking, traveling, and hang gliding,” she shares. In the autumn, she hopes to attend the hang gliding camp in OBX to become an instructor.

Staying Connected

Jo is looking forward to getting more connected to the community in the months to come. “I am hoping to join the Adventurers Club,” she shares. She encourages those who are new to Ford’s Colony to “definitely check out the clubs and events.”

Locally, Jo likes to frequent some of her favorite places. You can find her at Cochon on 2nd, Blue Talon, Tea and Spice Exchange, and Iron-Bound Gym.
