Eighteen-year-old Anu Gurung is a senior at Dauphin County Technical School (DCTS), where her dedication to academics and extracurricular involvement shines. A lover of math, Anu enjoys problem-solving in subjects like algebra, geometry, and statistics. She also has a talent for writing essays, which makes English another subject she appreciates. 

Anu’s school life is enriched by her active participation in clubs like HOSA (Future Health Professionals) and SkillsUSA. HOSA is an international student organization aimed at empowering future health professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience. Anu has embraced these opportunities, particularly as a member of the HOSA social media committee, where she enjoyed designing posters for fundraisers and promoting events. HOSA has also deepened her understanding of health care fields and strengthened her communication and leadership skills. Previously, Anu contributed to the student council, where she took pride in organizing her school’s prom. 

Outside of school, Anu’s creativity and social energy are evident in her hobbies. She enjoys crafting, such as making flower bouquets from pipe cleaners and spending time with friends and family at restaurants or on long, music-filled drives. Her determination is clear in her accomplishments, from earning a spot at her competitive high school to thriving in her first fast-food job, where she quickly adapted to a fast-paced environment. 

Anu says her parents are her biggest inspiration, motivating her to excel academically and build a sustainable future. With a long-held passion for health care, Anu has been accepted into Lebanon Valley College’s medical laboratory science program. She aims to become a Patient Care Technician after earning her certification, helping to fund her college education while pursuing her dream career.
