Blair's Ruff House

Blair Munger admits she didn’t know what to expect when she posted on a neighborhood Facebook page that she was starting a mobile pet-sitting service called Blair’s Ruff House. Granted, there was an obvious need, especially among area pet owners who craved more flexible care options for their fur babies. But whether or not enough people would take her up on the offer was a different story.

Well, if the past six years are any indication, she clearly got everyone’s attention.

“It was just me at the time, and there were days when I was busy from 6 in the morning until 10 at night,” Blair said. “But I love it. Being around any and every animal that crosses my path is a passion.”

Fast forward to today, and Blair’s business has exceeded expectations at every turn. Since 2018, she’s worked with many like-minded providers and has maintained a team of 10 to 15 in recent years. In doing so, her client list has ballooned from a handful of loyal customers to over 400 in Harvest, Argyle, Denton, Bartonville, Justin, Roanoke, Trophy Club and other select communities.

Their services include mobile dog walking, drop-in visits and customized house-sitting services. Their days begin as early as 6 a.m. and can go as late as 10 p.m., though overnight services are also an option for clients who work at night or have a planned vacation. There are also no limits to the number of daily drop-in visits, which also helps pet owners who are out of town.

And when she says they work with any and all pets, she means it. Dogs, cats, donkeys, cows, bunnies and even bearded dragons are welcome and endlessly cared for and loved.

So if you need someone to let your dog out two or three times a day? Blair’s Ruff House can help.

Do you want another pet-sitting option besides taking them to an unfamiliar and possibly overcrowded boarding service? Call Blair.

“Overnights are a valuable addition in cases where the pets need that overnight companionship, but pet owners also love that we can make as many visits as needed during the day,” Blair said. “Not only do they have peace of mind, but it benefits the animals. I’ve always believed that when a pet can stay at home, they feel more comfortable. It’s a tailored service for whatever their need is.”

Blair’s Ruff House is a breath of fresh air when you consider the growing number of people who find themselves juggling the responsibilities of pet ownership with increasingly busy work schedules, vacations, their children and other obligations. If you have an older animal, perhaps they are fine roaming around at home for long stretches. But they’re still alone, which isn’t ideal. They’re also limited in terms of the exercise they get during the day and having access to food and potty breaks.

Younger animals are a blessing, too. But many are expected to hang out in their crates or gated areas. As a result, many miss out on the care and interaction they desperately need. Blair’s Ruff House fills those gaps.

“It’s a service that also benefits people who have health problems, injuries or work from home and can’t get away [to care for their pets],” Blair said. “I get it because I’m a pet owner and have been stuck in many of those same situations. Our tag line is ‘Pets love us. Humans trust us.’ That’s what drives us. It’s our priority that we are caring and efficient and doing all we can to take care of a client’s animal as if they were our own. It’s all about the pets. But it’s also about how the owner feels. It’s a reliable and personable service.”

If you need proof of how much Blair and her team love pets, check out their Facebook page. There are countless heartwarming videos of them interacting with and playing with lovable pets of all shapes and sizes. With their client portal, they provide real-time updates and photos for their clients at the end of each visit. Pet parents love this because they get that reassurance that their pets have everything they need and a peek into their adventures. One look, and you’ll be sold on who you should call to love on your pet while you’re away.
