1972 – 2022 Garden Ridge Celebrated its 50th Anniversary in Extraordinary Fashion!
On July 4, Garden Ridge celebrated its 50th anniversary in a big way! Everyone had a wonderful time coming together at the Garden Ridge Community Center to celebrate 50 years of an amazing community. A special acknowledgment was given to Mrs. Ramona Miller-Banfield. Mrs. Miller-Banfield's husband (Harold Miller) was the original visionary that created Garden Ridge, and Ramona named the streets in the community. The name "Garden Ridge" came to Harold one day after purchasing the land, and he and Ramona were looking over the land and could see wildflowers everywhere. Harold told Ramona, "This is Garden Ridge."
The outstanding band MotherShip provided music from the '70s, and great food and cold drinks were available from a wide variety of the best food trucks in San Antonio. An amazing laser show in the evening, memorabilia honoring the 1972 start of the community were available, thanks to Kelly Smith and Leapfrog promotions and a lot of hard work from Garden Ridge Mayor, Robb Erickson, the Garden Ridge City Counsel members, Garden Ridge City Administrator Nancy Cain, the 50th Anniversary Committee, all the employees of Garden Ridge (30+), residents from Garden Ridge and all the wonderful volunteers! Thanks to everyone that made this incredible event possible!
