Happy New School Year, Gates Mills Elementary

Only a few weeks into school, the students, faculty, and the staff are welcoming back community members new and old to a fresh school year. Everyone has jumped into the school year at Gates Mills Elementary. With Donuts at Dawn, a Welcome Back Wildcats event, and a Parents’ Night Out already, the school continues to open its doors as a part of this incredible village community.

Donuts at Dawn honored our beloved Fire Chief P. Thomas Robinson. After 28 years with the Gates Mills Fire Department, Chief Robinson is retiring. While we are excited for his new adventures and hope he will still stop by and visit, we will miss Chief Robinson. Thank you to the Colleen Miklus Team for sponsoring the event to help celebrate our male role models and show our gratitude for Chief Robinson’s dedicated service.

Then there was the Welcome Back Wildcats Night. A majority of students and families attended on a school night because they can’t get enough of this wonderful school! Thank you to the PTC and Mayfield City Schools who made this event possible.

Teachers, staff and faculty can’t even stay away from the school on the weekend! The third week of school capped off with a Movie Night. More than just a fun night out with friends, this Movie Night is a fundraiser for the 5th grade’s end of year trip and gift back to the school.

Students who achieved their behavior goals in reading, math, kindness, sportsmanship, and school pride got to end the month of September with a game of flag football against Mayfield’s High School football team Members of the MHS band joined in on the fun to kick the year off with tons of school spirit!

Up next is the schools’s biggest annual fundraiser, the Walkathon, where students learn the importance of physical activity and teamwork. If you’d like to donate in support of a specific grade or to the school as a whole, visit
