Mayfield Moments

  • Mayfield High School Honors Capstone students have launched a new program called Freshman Foundations that will begin in the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. The program is intended to close the learning gap and build student confidence through peer-to-peer tutoring to incoming freshman in need of some extra assistance in math and reading, and exemplifies how Mayfield students are actively contributing to building a stronger and more connected learning environment for all students.
  • Congratulations are in order for Mayfield Middle School student Dreyden McDaniel, who qualified for the Junior Olympics in fencing! We wish Dreyden the best of luck as he competes this February in Charlotte, NC.
  • MHS students in the Multiple Disabilities Lifeskills Class were busy spreading holiday cheer as part of the Paw-liday Shop, where they sold arts, crafts, and other treats they’ve made throughout the year. The shop teaches students about various vocational skills, such as how to apply and interview for a job, assemble products, and work a shift, and was a huge hit with Mayfield Preschool students who got to visit the shop to buy presents for their families.
  • Thirty-five MHS students recently competed at the Cleveland Council on World Affairs Model United Nations Conference at CWRU. Model U.N. provides students with the chance to learn about world affairs and communication through research, debate, and conferences. Eight Mayfield students won awards ranging from the Superior Delegation Award for country representation on the International Atomic Energy Agency, to Honorable Mentions for country representation on the Peacekeeping Committee and UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Congrats students!
