“I started off my career as a schoolteacher,” says Kristen. She earned a degree in Education and taught for 12 years in the classroom, but her heart was calling her to something more.

“I wanted to be an interior designer,” she explains. Kristen has always had a passion for textiles, patterns and colors.

When her son developed severe food allergies as a child, Kristen quit her job to take care of him. “We lived in California at the time,” she explains. “My husband’s career started taking off and we started moving quite a bit. I found myself redesigning our homes each time we moved.”

Soon Kristen discovered her true calling.

“I was painting and taking art classes, and I realized how much I loved interior design,” Kristen recalls. After hiring a Decorating Den Interiors designer for one of her projects, Kristen’s interest in the field deepened. So much so that in 2011, she returned to school to earn her degree in interior design.

By 2015, Kristen and her family had settled in Ohio, where her children were in high school. Ready to focus on her passion full-time, Kristen took the plunge and bought a Decorating Den Interiors franchise in Cleveland, Ohio, 3 ½ years ago. Since then, she’s built a flourishing business, even bringing her daughter-in-law on board to help manage the growing workload.
