School is Back
School is back in session, and we already have so many things to celebrate!
- Teachers and staff kicked off the start of the school year with the Opening Day Convocation. Parents, administrators, alumni, and local business leaders participated in a discussion of what our Wildcats value: Family, Loyalty, Integrity, Collaboration, Tradition, and Innovation, all of which contribute to “The Mayfield Way.”
- Mayfield High School is proud to recognize its FOUR National Merit semifinalists. Isaac Haddadin, Dominic South, Henry Senra, and Ryan Nemeth. Less than one percent of the nation’s high school graduating seniors will qualify as semifinalists as part of the National Merit Scholarship Program, which recognizes and honors academically talented high school students. Congratulations students!
- Mayfield City Schools has again received a 5 star rating—the highest given by the Ohio Department of Education—on its 2023-2024 state report card. Mayfield is one of only 11 other school districts across Cuyahoga County, and one of only 68 districts across the state (out of 607 districts total) to receive this honor.
- All of the district’s schools received 4.5 or 5 star overall ratings, demonstrating that they exceed or significantly exceed state standards.
- Notably, the district continued to make strides in key areas, improving its performance index and early literacy scores, ranking as the 3rd highest district in Cuyahoga County for its 98.4 percent graduation rate, and ranking as the 5th highest district in Cuyahoga County for the progress component which measures student growth based on past performance.
- Gates Mills Elementary continues to be in the top 2 percent of schools in the state for its performance index score.
- Thank you students, teachers, and staff for all of your hard work!
