Gates Mills Tradition Continues
For over 70 years, the Women’s Guild of St. Christopher by the River Episcopal Church has been bringing the Gates Mills community together through its semi-annual sale, a beloved tradition that raises funds for local charities.

This year’s Spring Sale takes place on April 25, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 7601 Old Mill Road in Gates Mills. Early-bird shoppers can enter from 8:00 to 9:00 AM for a $10 fee.
Chaired once again by Sue Marston and Carolyn Miscko, who have been involved in the sale for decades, the event offers an array of high-quality items, including housewares, linens, boutique, jewelry, seasonal décor, sports gear, and more. Every item is carefully sorted, cleaned, and examined to ensure a great selection at reasonable prices.
The sale isn’t just about finding treasures—it’s about giving back. Over 80% of proceeds go to Cleveland-area charities, including The City Mission, WomenSafe, Inc., The Gathering Place, and Seeds of Literacy, among many others. Unsold items are donated to additional charities, ensuring nothing goes to waste. The church also directly supports Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry by providing meals, bus passes, and winter clothing for those in need.
Beyond fundraising, the sale fosters community spirit. Women of the church bond over sorting and setting up, continuing the legacy started by a small group of dedicated members in the 1950s. The event has not only strengthened lifelong friendships but also deepened the church’s mission of service.
Donations of gently used goods are accepted year-round in the brown bins near the church’s fire lane driveway. For more information, contact St. Christopher at 440-423-4451.
