Soccer Star - Kate Underwood

Kate Underwood is a twelve-year-old who attends Midlothian Middle. She’s going into eighth grade, and her favorite sport is soccer. Kate plays soccer for Strikers Elite and her school team. Now, let’s learn a bit about Kate!

Kate was born and raised in Hallsley, where she lives with her mom, dad, brother, and dog. She’s been playing soccer for NINE YEARS as a defender. Her mentor is Mr. King, a P.E. teacher and soccer coach at Midlothian. She feels that he’s kind and funny. Kate looks up to Crystal Dunn, a soccer player for the USWNT. Kate admires her work ethic and how calm she is on the field. Next, let’s explore some of Kate's accomplishments and dreams in soccer.

Kate won MVP for Midlothian’s soccer team. Her favorite memory was when her team won the school soccer championship! Kate practices at Striker Park for Elite; she’s also participated in tournaments. She’s also traveled to North Carolina, Missouri, and places in Virginia for soccer. When Kate gets to college she wants to potentially play soccer there. Finally, Kate has some things she’s learned and tips for anyone looking to get into soccer.   

Kate states that she’s learned “You can’t do everything by yourself.” This is great advice because soccer is a team sport. You’re not playing against another team alone; you must pass and communicate to win. “Find good friends that make you want to work hard and have fun!” Those are tips Kate Underwood has for anybody who wants to try soccer. You must always be around a group that pushes you to be your best self, and then you’ll accomplish more. You need to truly enjoy something to be stellar at it!  

Kate Underwood loves soccer. It’s something she enjoys, and she hopes to continue it in the future. Ultimately, if you work hard, you get what you want.
