A Magical Alaskan Adventure: The Hidden Lake Families Take on the Disney Cruise of a Lifetime
Four families from our Hidden Lake community—The McCaughans, The Books, The Catignanis, and The DeVines—recently embarked on the trip of a lifetime: a Disney Alaskan cruise that was as magical as it was adventurous. Their journey was filled with awe-inspiring sights, unforgettable experiences, and, of course, a touch of Disney magic.
In Vancouver, before the cruise set sail, the families enjoyed a pool party and visited the Vancouver Aquarium, setting the tone for the exciting days ahead. As they cruised along the Alaskan waters, they spotted sea lions basking in the sun and majestic eagles soaring overhead. They even took a thrilling boat ride to see humpback whales up close. Seeing these magnificent creatures breaching the water was a moment they’ll never forget.
The adventure began as the families set sail, with breathtaking views of the Alaskan coastline as their backdrop. From the moment they boarded, the excitement was palpable, especially when they met beloved Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and even the ever-mischievous Stitch. The kids were over the moon, especially during a special formal night where everyone dressed to the nines, adding a touch of elegance to the cruise.
The natural beauty of Alaska was on full display as the families explored the wonders of this majestic state. A highlight of their trip was a visit to the Mendenhall Glacier, where they were awestruck by the sheer size and beauty of the icy landscape. The children even had the chance to hold a piece of the glacier—a cool (literally) reminder of their Alaskan adventure.
Their exploration continued with a stop in Ketchikan, Alaska’s first city, where the families went on a fishing excursion. The thrill of catching their first salmon was only topped by the joy of gathering seashells during seaside walks, surrounded by the serene beauty of Alaska’s coastline. They also had the chance to attend the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show, cheering on the lumberjacks as they showcased their incredible skills—a fun and exciting experience for all.
In Skagway, the families panned for gold, sifting through pebbles in search of treasure, and enjoyed a scenic train ride through the rugged Alaskan landscape. Juneau offered its own set of adventures, including hiking through lush forests and witnessing breathtaking waterfalls and rainbows that added to the sense of wonder that accompanied every step of their journey.
The kids’ excitement peaked during a live performance of Disney’s Frozen, where the boys dressed up as Olaf, much to everyone’s delight. The magic didn’t stop there—dance parties and a silent disco party kept everyone on their feet, and the thrill of zip lining through the Alaskan wilderness was an experience that brought out the adventurous spirit in everyone.
As their journey came to an end, the families reflected on the countless memories made and the bonds strengthened during this incredible adventure. From seaside walks and gathering seashells to fishing their first salmon and meeting Disney icons, every moment of the trip was filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder.
For the McCaughans, the Books, the Catignanis, and the DeVines, this Disney Alaskan cruise was more than just a vacation—it was a journey that brought them closer together, filled with experiences that will be cherished for a lifetime. As they returned to Hidden Lake, they brought back not only photos and souvenirs but also stories that will be shared for years to come.
