SUBHEAD = 1/Meet the Foxworthys
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy grew up in Hapeville and became famous with his “You Might be a Redneck if …” routine. But don’t expect a similar schtick about Historic Brookhaven now that he and wife Pamela Gregg live here. While Jeff still performs 40 to 50 shows a year, he and Gregg love babysitting their grandchildren and supporting many charities.
SUBHEAD – 2/The Club Drive Pup Pack
You can often find Ned and Garland Simon walking their two dogs and grandpup around the neighborhood. Darcy is a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix and Cooper an American Staffordshire Terrier. Their daughter’s dog Hanson is a lab/boxer mix. All three dogs are rescues and love walks. “They are truly pals and seldom apart from one another,” say the Simons.
SUBHEAD = 3/1998 Time Capsule Revealed
Twenty-five years ago at the annual Street Party, neighbors buried a time capsule. This past September it was unearthed and the contents displayed at the fall Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association meeting. Among its contents were: Hot Wheel car, Dave Matthews Band cassette, Beanie Babies, People magazine celebrating Madonna’s 40th birthday, and an “I Heart Brookhaven” t-shirt.
SUBHEAD = 4/Consider a Guided Walking Tour of Croatia
World traveler and neighbor Brooke Tribble Weinmann joined Stroll this month as a guest travel writer. Brooke detailed a walking tour of Croatia that she and husband Winston enjoyed. They stayed in charming inns, ate field-to-table feasts and drank local wines, and walked 6-10 miles per day. Their seven-day guided tour took them along the Dalmatian Coast.
SUBHEAD = 5/Ladies of Historic Brookhaven Social Club
Led by Justine Regnier and Rebbeca Webb, the Women of Historic Brookhaven reorganized as the Ladies of Historic Brookhaven Social Club. The group will meet monthly in neighbors’ homes and enjoy guest speakers on topics like holiday decorating and healthy meals. It will help organize the Halloween party and Mailbox Brigade. A couples Valentine’s Party is planned for February.
