Hello, Neighbors, Friends and Sponsors,
Joy in September is about change in weather, new fall fashions and Labor Day to end the summer. With autumn approaching, we look forward to new adventures and events. Yet, I'm excited that I learned something over the summer that I'll keep doing as the seasons change. It's an activity that will allow me to get better over time. Joyfully, it's also fashion forward, involves community and often centers around food! You guessed it, it's Mahjong. The word "mah-jongg" means "sparrows" in Chinese, which may refer to the clacking sounds of the tiles. While the game started in China, there's an American version that's sweeping the nation. The game involves a combination of luck, skill, and strategy to win. While luck can play a big role in getting a good hand, you also need to think strategically and stay ahead of others. Nobody gets hurt if you lose, and the tables are lovely with decorative tiles and the conversation is lively. I'm a big fan! I have to credit Buckhead Mahjong Club for being patient instructors. Thank you Liz and Luci, they not only keep it interesting with different themes and locations but look stylish doing it! Truly, y'all have created a group of savvy ladies who are dedicated players. After learning, I ordered my own Mahjong set and look forward to being a better player in September then I was in August.
