Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. — Fred Rogers

Hello, Neighbors, Friends and Sponsors,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. While spring can be an invigorating time of year for many of us, it can also cause others to feel more anxious. Researchers theorize this is because some people do not cope well with change. Therefore, they often feel more uptight, especially around time changes. It's a reminder to reach out to those who are alone or sensitive to change and lead them back to joy. I recently drove with several girlfriends for tea in Rome, Georgia at Southern Seasons Tea Room. It was a lovely day trip out of the city. We also invited a friend who we don't see frequently to join us. At the end of the day, she expressed genuine appreciation for being included. While it's wonderful to have a close friend circle, it's joyful to include others. I hope this month, we all find time to invite someone new to join us for an hour or two of connection. Happy Mother's Day to all mom figures!
Speaking of others, I'm so happy to announce that we have three new sponsors! Please welcome Kathryn Leach Home, Nandy Millner with Merrill Lynch Private Wealth Management and Jan Gross at Risk Strategies.
Kathryn Leach Home is a Buckhead boutique specializing in bedding, linens, art, gifts, home decor, furnishings, as well as women's loungewear and nightwear. Nandy is a Private Wealth Manager with Merrill Lynch. She has over 29 years of investment and wealth management experience. She works closely with individuals including entrepreneurs, executives, entertainers, inheritors, and multigenerational families to simplify the complexities of their financial lives.
Jan is a VP of Private Client Services with Risk Strategies, a private insurance brokerage and risk management firm founded in 1997. She and her team analyze issues along with challenges that clients face by offering resources plus strategic planning to deliver highly customized solutions with economic impact.
In closing, I'd like to say that I'm forever grateful to our business partners who make this community-written magazine free to all the residents. A huge thank you to the many residents who contribute by sending in stories and neighborhood updates. Stroll Historic Brookhaven (also known as Historic Brookhaven Living) would not exist without the support of our community.
I look forward to meeting more incredible people in the area and sharing your stories.
With Much Gratitude,
Cynthia Carns
