Are You Ready for some College Football?

The Santolis Are a House Divided Between UGA and Auburn

September is the start of college football season for many schools. Stroll Historic Brookhaven asked residents to tell us about their favorite teams. Read on to learn about one family’s SEC rivalry and another neighbor’s time as a member of the Clemson Tigers football squad.

“The Santoli house is a house divided when it comes to SEC football. Joe is a staunch Bulldawg and has had the best past four years with our daughter Annabel graduating UGA in Spring 2024. They enjoy tailgating with Joe’s college friends, his fraternity brothers, and fellow Atlanta neighbors. You can find them in Reed Quad in a tent with excellent proximity to the stadium.

“My heart lies with the Auburn Tigers. I love spending fall weekends with college friends and sorority sisters tailgating on the plains and rooting on our team.

“At least one or two games a year, the family comes together to enjoy a game. Reconnecting with old and new friends and neighbors brings such joy while cheering on our prospective team that we love so much. Nothing better than fall football in the South!”

“Jim and I both went to Clemson from 1986 to 1991. We loved our days there! Football Saturdays were special. The girls wore dresses and the boys wore coat and tie to the games. Meanwhile, Jim spent his Saturdays playing wide receiver for Danny Ford in Danny’s final years coaching Clemson.

“These days, Dabo Swinney is high on Jim’s list of favorite people. He loves that he’s a leader of men first and a football coach second.

“We are Tiger fans for life!”
