LNCP Applies for Park Pride Grant
Be on the lookout for possible improvements at Little Nancy Creek Park (LNCP). The park, which is situated across Peachtree Dunwoody from the Winall Down Road intersection, has applied for a Park Pride grant. If it receives the funds, the LNCP plans to enhance the playground by adding parkour and climbing equipment for older kids (ages eight to 14 years old). The park also hopes to add six to eight cardio and strength-training pieces to its fitness area.
“One thing Covid taught us is that Brookhaven and North Buckhead like to exercise and our fitness set is pretty old and basic,” said LNCP President Luke Bayer, who lives on Club Circle. The additional playground equipment will create a safer environment by providing a separate area for older children so they won’t “be sliding on top of little ones,” he noted.
Even if LNCP doesn’t receive the grant, it still plans to improve current structures in 2024. “Most importantly, the wooden bridge in the back is 10 years old and starting to rot; we need to address the parking lot with a lot more gravel,” Bayer said. The board also plans to fix fencing and clean up trees and other vegetation.
The five-acre LNCP also includes two pavilions, an exercise trail, and a community garden. Its executive board is made up of residents from the Historic Brookhaven and North Buckhead neighborhoods.
