Eric Sherrard grew up in Prospect and Goshen before adventuring away for college and grad school.  But as most do, he came back to the Louisville area to raise a family.  He is married to his wife, Catherine, and has two sons, Robbie and Benjamin.

Just down the road from Hunting Creek and for the past ten years, Eric and Catherine have owned and operated BeeHive Goshen, a small assisted living home (total of only 16 rooms) that provides a home for seniors who need some help with the activities of daily living.  Eric says, “After working in the hotel industry for over 20 years, I decided to follow my passion for the hospitality industry, but I also saw a great need for highly personalized senior care.  In 2013, when BeeHive was built, there was nothing available for seniors in the area. So Imy wife and I opened a small Assisted Living home that focused on high levels of personalized care and service with a loving staff.”

Being small, the BeeHive can get to know its residents and provide a very personalized level of care. Its resident-to-staff ratio is unique in the caregiving sector with one caregiver for every 5 or 6 residents versus 1 caregiver for 15 at larger facilities in the area. Also, all residents benefit from home-cooked meals prepared by an amazing chef, and they have a loving, experienced staff that works to make a home-like atmosphere. Additionally, it is an all-inclusive experience; in other words, no extra charges if the level of care increases when the needs for more care arise.

Eric suggests, “When you are evaluating assisting living facilities and their costs, definitely find out the cost for the level of care (if there will be increases as needs arise). Also, ask about the staff’s experience and tenure, as they will be the ones taking care of you or your loved one. Have they been there long? How many staff will be able to help your loved one? I would really dive in to get to know about the quality of the staff who will be with your loved one on a daily basis as well as communicating with you and your family.”
