Meet Nellie: The Bichon Who Loves Fetch, Car Rides, and Family Fun
Tommy Teays: Hi, Nellie! I am thrilled to be meeting a Bichon Frise. I understand you are a year and a half and have a unique take on commands, how do you feel about that?
Nellie: Hi Tommy. I like to keep things simple. Whether they tell me to "sit" or "down," I just lay down. It works for me, and my humans have accepted it. No need to complicate things!
Tommy Teays: I love it, efficient and straightforward! So, Nellie, how do you feel about your name?
Nellie: I think it's perfect. My family had a few options, but "Nellie" won out, and it suits me. It’s light, fun, and a little quirky, just like me!
Tommy Teays: Speaking of quirky, I hear you’re not too fond of kids. Is that right?
Nellie: That’s true. Kids can be loud and unpredictable, and I prefer my peace. When they get too close, I usually run away, but if “mom” Julie or “sister” Caroline is holding me, I’m happy to let them pet me. It’s like a safe zone when I’m with Mom.
Tommy Teays: Smart move! I’ve also heard you’re close with Zeus, your family’s cat. Tell me about that.
Nellie: Zeus is my best friend. We wrestle and play together all the time. If I can’t find him, all Mom has to say is, "Nellie, where’s Zeus?" and I’m off looking for him in all his favorite spots. I always find him eventually, it’s our little game.
Tommy Teays: That’s adorable. What else do you enjoy doing?
Nellie: I love playing fetch. I’m pretty good at it and always bring the ball back. I also love swimming and riding in the car with my head out the window. After a bath, I like to roll all over the couch to dry off, but the pillows have to go! I need the whole space to myself.
Tommy Teays: What does your family love most about you?
Nellie: They say I make them laugh all the time. I guess I’m a little goofy, but I’m also very loyal. I’m always with them, and I’m never territorial about food or anything. I just want to be part of the family.
Tommy Teays: That’s wonderful. What’s a typical day like for you?
Nellie: I’m up at 5:30 every morning, and I’m ready for bed by 8:00 pm. In between, I spend time playing fetch, looking for Zeus, riding in the car, or lounging in the driveway, watching the world go by. It’s a good life.
Tommy Teays: It sounds like you’ve got a great routine, Nellie. Thanks for chatting with me today!
Nellie: You’re welcome Tommy. There goes Zeus gotta run Tommy a wrestling match awaits!
