Meet Tux: The Boston Terrier Who Knows No Stranger
Tommy Teays: Hi, Tux! You’re quite the popular Boston Terrier in the neighborhood. How did you come to join your family?
Tux: Well, it all started in Ohio. My family, the Baileys, absolutely adores Boston Terriers. I’m actually the third one they've had. Before me, there were two others named Kobe and Tebow. They both passed before I arrived, and from what I hear, I’ve filled a pretty important role in making the family whole again.
Tommy: Any story about your cool name?
Tux: Oh, that’s an easy one! My two sisters, Palmer and Paisley, gave me the name as soon as I walked through the door. They took one look at my black and white coat and said, “He’s wearing a tuxedo!” So, they decided Tux was the perfect name for me.
Tommy: I heard you have a special talent. Can you tell us about that?
Tux: Ah, yes, my door-opening skills! I’m by far the biggest and tallest Boston Terrier my family has ever had, so naturally, I like to be where the action is. I’ve mastered the art of using my paws to open both inward and outward-swinging doors.
Tommy: I bet your family gets a kick out of that! Speaking of family, what’s your relationship like with everyone in the house?
Tux: I’ve got a pretty special bond with each member of the family. My mom, Tiffany, and my sister, Palmer, get all the gentle, loving side of me. I like to snuggle and be close to them. But when it comes to my dad, Eric, and my other sister, Paisley, it’s playtime all the time!
Tommy: Do you have any funny habits?
Tux: Funny? I’d say so! My family calls me a "teenager" because I love to sleep in. If there’s a bed available, I’ll stay in it as long as I can, they joke that I’d rather sleep in all day if they’d let me.
Tommy: Now, I have to ask: Just how spoiled are you?
Tux: Let’s just say I’m very well taken care of. I get lots of treats, and I even have an entire room just for me. My mom set it up with my bed and a living area, so yeah, I’d say I’m a bit spoiled. But I’m worth it!
Tommy: How has being part of the Bailey family enriched your life—and theirs?
Tux: I really do feel like I bring a lot of love into the house. I’m friendly with everyone—family, visitors, you name it. I don’t know a stranger. And even though I’m over 35 pounds, I still think I’m a lap dog, no matter who’s sitting down. Plus, I’m always ready to give kisses, whether you’re asking for them or not. That’s just my way of showing love!
Tommy: It sounds like you’ve got an amazing family, Tux. Thanks so much for sitting down with me today!
Tux: Anytime, Tommy! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think there’s a door I need to open... and a nap I need to finish.
