Jake New's Journey

Turning a Love for Cars into the Thriving "Good As New" Detailing Business

Jake New has always had a deep passion for cars. Born and raised in Ibis, West Palm Beach, Florida, Jake spent his early years watching his parents, Kelli and his dad, settle into the neighborhood after moving from Pennsylvania. While Ibis became home for the entire New family—including Jake's sisters, Reese (15) and Elin (13), and his energetic grandmother, Mommo (Carol, 80)—it was Jake’s love for cars that stood out as a defining part of his life.
After graduating from Seminole Ridge Community High School, Jake knew he wanted to pursue a business degree, so he began taking online classes at Palm Beach State College. However, his love for cars took him down a different entrepreneurial path—launching his own car detailing business, Good As New Detailing, in January 2023.

Jake's journey to becoming a detailer started long before the business began. He recalls spending hours in the driveway cleaning and polishing his own car to perfection. When he wanted to learn advanced techniques like buffing and ceramic coating, Jake turned to YouTube and even bought a junkyard car door to practice on. Once confident, he started offering his services to family and friends. Seeing their cars transform before his eyes inspired him to take his hobby to the next level. By December 2023, he had obtained his business license, officially launching Good As New Detailing as a fully licensed and verified service on Google and Yelp.

Based in Ibis, Jake’s detailing business serves clients from Jupiter to Broward County. "Good As New" reflects Jake's dedication to making every car look like it just rolled off the lot. He offers a wide range of services, from basic washes and waxes to more advanced packages that include buffing and ceramic coating. His packages are priced between $50 and $200, with something for every car enthusiast or everyday driver who wants their vehicle to shine.

What sets Jake apart is his attention to detail and customer service. Whether it’s a small family car or a high-end luxury vehicle, Jake approaches every job as if it's going to be the most challenging one he's done. "The most fulfilling part of my job," Jake says, "is seeing the customer’s reaction when they see their car looking brand new again. It’s the best feeling." But it’s not just about the outcome—Jake also prides himself on educating his clients. He often gets asked about the difference between a wax and a ceramic coat, and he loves taking the time to explain, making sure his clients are informed and confident about the services they choose.
Jake’s work has connected him to the Ibis community in a way he hadn’t experienced before. He’s met people from all walks of life with different professions and stories. Jake has built relationships and networks with his neighbors through his detailing business, which he values greatly.

The New family is proud of Jake’s success and his growing business. His mom, Kelli, is his biggest supporter, while his sisters, Reese and Elin, are budding entrepreneurs working together on a pet-sitting company in the neighborhood. Elin may be obsessed with Taylor Swift, but she’s also developing a knack for business, just like her older brother. Meanwhile, Mommo, the family’s lively 80-year-old matriarch, is always on the go, whether heading to the gym or spending time with her grandkids.

Their dog Nash, or "Nash Man" as they affectionately call him, is also a big part of the family. Nash’s endless energy keeps everyone entertained, and like Jake, he’s always at the center of activity.

When Jake isn’t working on his detailing business, you can find him at the local gym or biking the trails around West Palm Beach. He’s a regular at Dyer Park, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, and West Delray Park. And when it comes to grabbing a bite to eat, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is his go-to spot.

Looking ahead, Jake is excited about the future of Good As New Detailing. He’s currently working on acquiring a company van, which will allow him to expand his mobile services even further. He’s also gearing up for a special Thanksgiving promotion, offering 15% off all details during the holiday week to give back to the community that’s supported him.
Jake’s entrepreneurial spirit, love for cars, and connection to the Ibis community drive him daily. As he continues to grow his business, Jake is not only making cars look as good as new—he’s building relationships, fostering a sense of community, and making his family proud.
