Exceptional Self Care: with Onward Health and Wellness
Introducing Eric and Krystal Fillmore
Eric: I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate from the University of Utah in nursing practice and have been a Registered Nurse for 16 years and a DNP for nearly 10 years. I am married to the kindest person in the world, my wife of 19 years Krystal, who also works in our clinic along my side. We have two dogs, Dexter and Jessie, and also Woody, our cat. We have lived in Oregon for 4 years now, and we are originally from Utah.
Together we've spent nearly 30 combined years in healthcare and mental health and have witnessed the need for better, more effective care while always learning and growing ourselves. We both wanted to be able to provide something more to our patients, to do something that we could be proud of that would be genuinely helpful. We pride ourselves in our unique cutting-edge science approach to healthcare and truly want our patients to have a life-changing, transformative experience.
We aren't the typical rushed medical clinic that is so common today, and to our knowledge, we are the only clinic in the area offering Ketamine treatment. Primarily we offer Ketamine therapy and mental health services for patients who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, postpartum depression, chronic pain, and addiction. Krystal offers general mental health counseling services and specializes in those with suicidal tendencies. She sees children and adults for a variety of mental health reasons. In addition to this, I also offer men's health services, such as testosterone replacement therapy, peptide therapy, and fertility services. I offer medication-assisted weight loss services and regenerative medicine therapies such as platelet-rich plasma injections for both men and women. I am also excited to begin offering Radiofrequency Microneedling for skin rejuvenation, lifting, and tightening.
Krystal: I began my mental health career working in a psychiatric hospital with teens in 2009. I worked as a case manager, aided in school safety and prevention, and as a social skills coach while earning my master's degree in mental health counseling. In 2015, I began working in rural outpatient centers in Arizona offering services for a variety of mental health and behavioral disorders. Since my family moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2019, I have been working with the Trillium Family Services Day Treatment program, enhancing my skills in family systems and complex trauma treatment. I have experience working with domestic violence offenders and children/teens diagnosed by others with oppositional defiant disorder. While I have found that most therapists shy away from these clients, I enjoy working with them and can help them see the emotion behind their behaviors. I do not label them as bad people but help them find the good in themselves. Working with offenders, I have been able to help them stop family cycles of abuse.
A top priority for us is to only use treatment modalities that have been researched and proven to be effective. We treat all patients regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or age. Eric and I enjoy working together and being able to bounce ideas off one another; together we are combining our strengths and experiences to create an integrative wellness clinic.
Our vision is to continue to grow with current science and with the community. As a developing practice, our goal is to eventually have multiple providers and several full-time employees to serve more people. Regarding advice for people in the community, we encourage you to not be afraid to be vulnerable and ask for help. A common mental health symptom of depression and anxiety is to want to hide, to believe you are alone in your suffering. Reach out and let others know you are hurting. If you have health issues whether they be physical, mental, or both, there is generally someone out there with the expertise to help.
Eric: My best advice is to live your life at full capacity. Health and
wellness is a lifelong goal and everyone is at a different stage.
I'm on a bit of a health and mental health journey of my own. I have not
always been kind to myself and my body; I'm a work in progress. This is why
you will never see any judgment from us over what you may view as a shortcoming. Everyone has the potential to improve some aspect of their life, but
no one ever really has it all figured out even if it seems that way.
We are never happier than when we see patients experience improvements that change their lives for the better. As a new clinic looking for ways to connect with and contribute to the community, we are excited to be getting to know the Illahe community!
