Chuck and Robin each grew up in very different areas. Chuck was raised in a suburb of Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota; while Robin was raised in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. While they didn’t grow up in Houston, they tell us “We got here as soon as we could!” Chuck moved to the area for work in 2003 and met Robin, through mutual friends, when she moved here in 2004. They fell in love and were married later that year!

 

Chuck started his career in Investment Banking and transitioned to Commercial Insurance when he moved to Houston in 2003. They spent the early years of their marriage moving around from London to Denver to Atlanta for Chuck’s job in corporate insurance with AON. They returned to Houston in 2009 and have been here ever since! Robin by nature is a very loving and nurturing person and her faith journey led her to early childhood education (K-4). Today, the Vieaus have a small insurance practice, as well as the Kingwood and College Station locations for Crust Pizza, and Robin enjoys teaching at Rosehill Christian School.

 

Their oldest daughter, Ashlyn Rose, was born in Atlanta’s Northside Hospital in the winter of 2008. Their second child, Ainsley Claire, was born in The Woodland’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in the winter of 2010. They are both in high school now at Rosehill Christian School in Tomball. The Vieaus also have two large breed dogs, Ace is their Yellow Lab they refer to as “Mr. Relaxed” and Sadie is a Golden Retriever who embraces her nickname “Ms. Lovable!”

 

Chuck tells us, “We fell in love with Crust Pizza first as long-time customers of the location near our neighborhood.” After eating there for many Friday and Saturday evenings, and regularly supporting the local community spirit nights, they were thrilled to learn the company was open to bringing on other operating partners via their franchising model. Chuck says, “We jumped at the opportunity! The made fresh daily food and cool interior ambiance that is focused on family friendly service is really why we chose to build a business partnership with Crust.”

 

What makes Crust unique is the fact the restaurant is very family focused and kid friendly. There are tons of specials throughout the week! On Tuesdays kids eat free (12 and under) with an adult entree, on Wednesdays they offer half price wine, and on Thursdays you can enjoy half price pints. Plus, on a corporate level they run specials throughout the year. Chuck emphasizes, “We also love the fact that everything is made fresh daily. Blocks of cheese are grated daily. Vegetables are cut fresh daily. And, our signature dough is carefully made every 2-3 hours FRESH! Plus, when you enter the restaurant, it has soft lighting, a cool neutral color scheme, TVs for watching kid friendly shows as well as sports, and a nice selection of music to make the ambiance that much more enticing!”

Chuck and Robin both enjoy listening to podcasts, and always find good business advice there. One particular interview they recall was Jeff Bezos. He was asked what motivated him to leave his hedge fund job and start Amazon (moving from New York to Seattle, WA). In summary, Jeff told the interviewer, “when I look back on my life and reflect on the things I’ve done, the people I’ve impacted, I don’t want to regret not taking the chance on something I felt very compelled to do.” That idea resonated with Chuck and Robin and they hope it will also resonate with you! Their goal is for Crust Pizza to become an integral part of the community. They seek to support the local community in everything they do. The Vieaus have poured a ton of time and treasure back into Kingwood in the form of fundraising for local schools, churches, and non-profits. They have also donated tens of thousands towards supporting local teachers, who work tirelessly to educate our students, and are proud to offer regular discounts via the Kingwood Mustang card.
