Meet The Blankenship Family
Since 2001, Mark and Kim Blankenship have called Lakeridge their home. It is the place they raised their three children – Jackson, Shelby and Payton and now are enjoying life as empty nesters. When they aren’t visiting their adult children you will find them spending time at home with their doodle dogs Ellie and Fitzgerald and their kitty Boots.
Mark and Kim Blankenship’s love story began in the late 90s when a mutual friend set the pair up. The rest as they say, is history. After marrying in Ruidoso, New Mexico in 1993, the pair started their family a few years later when they welcomed son Jackson. Daughter Shelby came along a few years later and their son Payton joined the family a year after they moved to their home in Lakeridge.
Upon graduating from Texas Tech in 1988, Mark began his prestigious law career with Crenshaw, Dupree and Milam. During his career, Mark has served as president of Lubbock, Inc. and the Lubbock County Young Lawyers’ Association. He was a member of the Lubbock ISD School Board for six years and served as a director for the Texas Association of Defense Council. Mark believes in giving back and has donated his time to serving several charitable boards here in Lubbock.
Kim is also a proud Texas Tech graduate. Instead of entering the work force, Kim decided to be a stay-at-home mom for her three children. After her children had flown the nest, Kim says she decided to become a teacher and has been teaching fifth grade at Bayless Elementary School for several years. Kim has always been active in the PTA, various church committees and the Junior League of Lubbock. Service is something Mark and Kim are passionate about.
All three of the Blankenship’s children have found life outside of Lubbock. Jackson and his wife Taylor live in Dallas where he owns his own software engineering company and Taylor teaches fourth grade. They married in 2019. Shelby and her husband Darren settled in Denver, Colorado after their wedding last fall. They both work for Lockheed Martin. Payton is finishing his last year at the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a management information systems degree. In addition to school, Payton is active in his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta and playing basketball, piano and the guitar.
Their home in Lakeridge is much more than just an address. It’s the place they raised their family, the place they have nourished their passions and where they are currently enjoying life as a duo again since their children have grown.
“We both dearly love our Lakeridge neighborhood,” Kim said. “We especially love spending time with our awesome neighbors.”
